This year, ECCB has an ambitious “no flight” target for the transportation of delegates to Bologna. Europe is by far the continent with the densest, fastest and most reliable rail network at the continental scale. Continental rail travel in Europe is much faster and easier than most people think and there is consequently no real reason to fly. All of us conservationists are very much aware of the disastrous impacts of carbon emissions and global warming. A great number of talks at the conference will be focusing on those impacts on biodiversity. But if we conservationists don’t make that little extra effort to limit our carbon emissions when we can, who will?
So here is a guide to travel by train to Bologna from pretty much everywhere in Europe.
