Instructions for authors

All participants are requested to follow the presentation guidelines to make the congress program flow smoothly. Please refer to the information below for questions on how to format your presentations at ECCB 2024, including technical specifications, and for information on abstract types and formats:

Posters are a key part of ECCB. Posters will be located in the Museum of Zoology of the University of Bologna close to the Complesso Belmeloro where parallel sessions will be located. Posters will be available for the entire duration of the Congress.

Poster session details

 The poster sessions are scheduled from Tuesday to Friday during morning coffee breaks.

Authors are kindly asked to be present at their posters, during the poster sessions assigned to them, for a possible discussion.

The two sessions will be on Tuesday 18th June and on Thursday 20th June. We will publish the list of posters for each session soon.

Set up and take down time

Set-up from: Monday, 17th June 2024, 9:00 a.m.

Take down until: Friday, 21st June 2024, 16:00 p.m.

If possible, please install your poster during the whole day of Monday. Posters should be available for other participants during every day of the congress, from 8:00 am to 7:30 pm. Stands for posters will be marked with numbers which will be available also on the conference website. Please install your poster at the poster board marked with your poster number. Adhesive double-sided tape will be provided on-site. Organizing staff will help you there if requested.

The student posters which have been entered into the student competition will be specially marked.

Posters which are not removed by Friday 6:30 p.m. will be disposed of.

Poster exhibition venue

The poster session will be located in the Museum of Zoology (Collezione di Zoologia) which is part of the university museum system called Alma Mater Studiorum of the University of Bologna.

The Poster area will be open daily from Tuesday 18th June to Friday 21st June, between 8:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

!!! Print your poster on site !!!

Do you have any problems with your travel luggage? You don’t want to care for your poster during your travel? Are you in a hurry and looking for a poster at the last minute? We suggest the possibility of printing your poster on-site (next to the Museum of Zoology of the University of Bologna).

You can load your poster file from your office in advance and after your arrival, you can pick up the print-out. Please contact one of these three printing offices:

Guaranteed production time is 24 hours (when ordering before 01:00 p.m.), please send your poster to the printing office no later than Friday morning, 14th June, so you can pick it up on Monday, 17th June! All three of them don’t work on the weekends, so the poster pickup will have to be done on weekdays.

How to create your presentation?

  • Your presentation needs to be created in .PDF (to be submitted online) or in .PPTX (to be submitted at the venue when you arrive).
  • Presentations from Keynotes (Apple/Mac OS) are not supported and need to be saved as .pptx or .ppt.
  • Conference presentation templates are available, but not mandatory. You can download it here: https://eccb2024.eu/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Presentazione-standard1.pptx
  • Please use the slide set-up for the on-screen show – 16:9 aspect
  • Maximum file size is 10MB
  • Use standard Windows fonts only, avoid use of non-standard Windows fonts or language-specific fonts.
  • Images: Do not copy and paste the images from another application, please use the “insert image from a file” functionality from PowerPoint (format JPG or PNG).
  • Video: MP4 or AVI are the only acceptable video formats. To avoid any issue with movies and loops with PowerPoint, presentations should be saved as a .pptx files and submitted directly at the venue.
  • Presentations will be displayed from a PC with Windows 10/11 and PowerPoint
  • Apple: Please give your filename an extension “pptx” or “pdf”
  • Check your presentation on a Windows-operated computer before you upload

Oral presentations will be limited to 15 minutes, including 10 minutes of presentation and 5 minutes for questions and changing speakers.

If absolutely necessary and in exceptional cases the last possibility to submit a presentation file is the day before your presentation at our loading center on 17th June at the Arena del Sole Theatre, and from 18th to 21st June at the Belmeloro Complex. File submission will not be accommodated on the day of the presentation! No last-minute presentation uploads will be accepted. Thank you very much for understanding.

Speed talk session will include 10 speakers, each speed talk will be limited to 5 minutes. After every three presentations, there will be 3 minutes for discussion.
